Scarlett Magazine: Above and Below

I’m thrilled to announce a new photo set that I’ve been eager to bring to life for quite some time: Above and Below underwater and drone portrait sessions! This unique photoshoot experience combines the ethereal beauty of underwater photography with the stunning aerial perspectives captured by drones, creating a truly captivating and multidimensional portrait series.

While model Lydia and I have both had some previous experience with underwater photography, this venture still presented its fair share of challenges and learning opportunities. Underwater photography requires a specific skill set and understanding of how light, movement, and buoyancy interact beneath the surface. Similarly, incorporating drone technology adds another layer of complexity, requiring precise coordination and timing to capture the perfect shot from above.

Voyage MIA

I’ve loved to perform ever since I was five years old when my tap shoe flew off of my foot in the middle of class. As a child, I performed in local musical theater productions and danced an eclectic variety of styles through high school and college (including contra dance, swing, jazz, and even Irish step dance).

As an adult, the only dance classes I could find were for pole dancing, so I took those and was shocked to find out how difficult it was. From there, another dancer suggested I try aerial dance on silks (just like in Cirque de Soleil), which quickly became my favorite because of its difficult blend of grace, strength, and flexibility.

When I first came to Destin, Florida, there were no places to perform aerial dance, so I started a performance troupe in 2014 called Luminary Entertainment Company. We are the original aerial performance company of the Emerald Coast!

Since then, we have trained hard to be able to offer more services, including fire dancing, stilt walking, and LED dancing with high-quality light-up props that draw pictures in the air. Luminary performers add a unique and fun element to events.

While booking Cirque du Soleil for your wedding may not be a possibility, you are still able to draw from its lineage by considering Luminary Entertainment Company to wow your guests and leave them with a once-in-a-lifetime experience at your wedding.

DJ Josh got to chat with Luminary owner and performer, Lydia Faith. She shares about all of the different entertainment options they can provide (from aerialists to stilt walkers to fire dancers), how her life experience set her up to start her own company, and some things that would be good to know as a guest watching one of their performances. They also talked about their favorite moments in a wedding, how they both had choreographed First Dances, and their least favorite Office character.

We recently connected with Lydia Faith and have shared our conversation below.

Lydia, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s jump back to the first dollar you earned as a creative? What can you share with us about how it happened?

The first time I was paid for an aerial performance… picture it. It’s 2014. I’m at a gorgeous Rio-themed Christmas party. I’m feeling a little imposter syndrome (not that I know that term yet).

I’m wearing a black blazer with my logo on it, and it makes me feel so professional. I walk into a gorgeous venue with colorful decorations and glittery ostrich feather centerpieces. The event looks so well put together, and I want to do my absolute best to meet the expectations set by the décor. The pressure is on!

Davista Photography Shoot

This group of ladies on Florida’s Emerald Coast are the Luminary Entertainment Company, and just a peek into a few of the skills, talents, and hard work they put into their performances below- you’ll see how passionate and inspiring they are- and I constantly feel lucky to surround myself with these kind of women!

We all have heard how we become like the people we surround ourselves with and what challenges us to be better is to be around people with that mindset. Women and men who push, encourage, have big dreams, and goals they work on every single day. We all could think of 1000 reasons not to do the things we dream of, but when you’re around people who you see are pursuing something bigger- it’s hard not to be insanely motivated too. The people who talk about what’s next, what they’re working on, what they’re reading, researching, and who they’re encouraged by too.

Thank you ladies for this always incredible experience that just lights me up inside and out to not only be SO proud and excited for what’s to come for you, but excited to keep pushing myself too.
